About Our engineer - instructor

Juan Carlos Coronado is a professional musician who has released sever

al albums, toured extensively, played with countless bands, and done a lot of session work.

The head engineer and producer, Juan Carlos Coronado, has been helping musicians sound great since 1997, when he established Ultrasonico in Colombia. He apprenticed with Caesar Bohorquez in a large well-known studio in Medellin, Colombia where he grew up, called Promix. During this time, he really gained valuable, hands on experience and knowledge about recording and production techniques, equipment, and acoustics. In addition to hands on industry experience, Juan also has formal training through a Digidesign authorized ProTools Education Institute, Audiograph International, in Los Angeles. He trained with Jose "Chilitos" Valenzuela, one of the best in the field, who led Juan through an intense audio engineering and a ProTools program.

With Ultrasonico in Colombia, Juan recorded demos and full-length albums for artists and bands of all sizes, instrumentation and music styles. As well, he did work for television shows, commercials, and radio. Juan’s solid experience, high level of commitment, friendly manner, and professionalism had clients returning again and again.

In 2005, Juan moved the studio to Canada in the Greater Toronto Area. He has constructed a great studio to produce high quality, professional recordings and has since completed many successful projects.

In addition to his technical experience, Juan is a musician himself who has been playing professionally for over 17 years. As a result, he really understands the production needs and budget requirements of independent artists. He is also a seasoned composer, arranger and producer who is happy to work on and/or collaborate on projects. He has produced many albums, including one with a number one radio hit. In 2005, he was awarded Best Instrumental Album of the Year by DRMS. As he plays guitar, bass, and drums, he can be especially helpful to musicians during a recording session

Guitar Player Magazine chose Juan as one of the Top Ten Guitar Heroes in 2005 and 2007 from over 3,000 submissions worldwide. Juan played at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, in front of guitar legends such as Joe Satriani and Steve Lukather. As well, Juan won Durham Region Music’s award for “Best Instrumental Recording of the Year".  Juan also won the award for "Best World Music" at the Ontario Independent Music Awards in Toronto (2007) and the award for "Best International Artist" at the Orange County Music Awards in California (2008).

Juan is an active mentor for S.A.S.S. (School Alliance of Student Songwriters) and shares his love for songwriting and music through workshops in local elementary and high schools.

Juan is a dedicated teacher who has been sharing his knowledge, experience, expertise and passion for music with his students for over 15 years. Whether you’re new at your instrument or a pro, Juan can help you reach your goals.

Our standardS - Samples

At Ultrasonico Studios, individuals, group acts and businesses have the chance to record with a talented producer / engineer, using exceptional recording equipment.

Being musicians ourselves, we understand the budgetary constraints of independent artists. As we believe that smaller budgets shouldn't mean smaller recordings, we allow our clients the luxury of studio-quality productions without the need for big corporate support.

For businesses, let us be your one-stop recording studio to help make your project a success. We do voice overs, narration, jingles, audio for websites, theme songs, and music and audio for phone, web, radio, and television commercials.

Although the recording, mixing, editing, mastering and production of digital audio is the core of our business, significantly more is needed to get great results from any recording project. We believe that the engineer’s creativity, dedication to one’s clients, passion for one’s craft, experience and skill are a studio’s most important asset. Ultrasonico Studios relentlessly pursues these ideals to our customers’ utmost satisfaction.
